vintage earrings tutorial and giveaway...

A friend of mine introduced me to the most adorable pair of vintage earrings that are so very easy and inexpensive to make. I'm going to show you how to make them and I'm giving away a few pairs too.

You'll need:
Rose or decorative buttons with hooks on the back (about $1 at the craft store or free if you already have some in your stash)
Button shank/hook remover (about $5 at the craft store)
Glue gun
Earring posts and back (about $1 for a pack of 16 at the craft store)
Spray paint or acrylic paint if you chose to change the color of your buttons

Here is what the buttons look like with the hooks...

Get your button hook remover as close to the base of the hook as possible for a flatter surface

This is what the buttons will look like with the hooks removed...

Use your glue gun to glue the post to the back of the earring

The buttons with the earring posts glued on

The final result...beautiful, vintage, simple and classic all in one

White roses...

Lavender roses...

Embellished pearl....

So inexpensive, so easy and I think these would make fabulous gifts...don't you?

TO ENTER:
1.  Leave a comment below letting me know which earrings you'd choose if you win.

  2.  For an additional entry you can blog, facebook or tweet about this giveaway and write an additional comment each one that you make with a link back to your post.

I'm on my way to Michael's as soon as I finish posting this comment! I can't join the contest twice, bummer! I'm not exactly social network 'material', I respect my privacy. I would most definiteley go for the lavender roses, the color looks a bit mysterious. Awesome post! I did manage to save your page in my StumbleUpon account. Keep up the crafty work! XoXo
